I grabbed a new Silhouette blade and aligned the blade/angle to match the one on the new Silhouette blade. I always double cut everything. I've heard from others who tell me they don't double cut and it works well, but I haven't had that experience. Even though I double cut and it seems to take more time; it's worth it. I did increase the speed settings on all of my double cuts and this too works very well. I hope the information I've given you is helpful. Sometimes it just takes a bit of fiddling, but once you get it, you will love the results and the savings. When dropping the blade into the Silhouette blade holder, how can I tell if the blade is in the correct position. In other words, the Silhouette blade has a long "ridge" that is supposed to be lined up with the notch before tightening the blade housing into place. That "ridge" is not aligned with the cutting depth number. Hope that makes sense.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02735573188683141612noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5846675886332907819.post-58256179009333131012015-09-05T22:58:32.018-05:002015-09-05T22:58:32.018-05:00Hi Nancy, I just now learned of your post. The problem is I am cutting an intricate Celtic knot on 130lb card stock that has a glossy finish. I have to use a blade setting of 10, speed 1, thickness 33 offset .02, and double cut. I am going through blades like crazy. I think it is the glossy finish. I purchased the CB09 holder and 60 degree blades. I can get the holder to cut everything but the card stock. It just won't cut it all the way through. Any ideas? I would really like to get this CB09 to work as I have heard great things about it. While I was researching issues with the blades, I came across an article that said to uninstall the latest version (3), and re-install the previous version (2) of the Silhouette software. I did that, and it has seemed to correct some of the issues, but I would really like to take advantage of the new releases enhancements. Which version are you running? I assembled the holder and blade without the spring and did some test cuts, so far, its good. Will using the assembly without the spring ruin my machine, the holder or my projects in the future? I've been using it for awhile now and I love it but I am not a heavy user so I can't base it on my usage. Based on the engineering of the cutter, pushing down a heavier blade holder will actually help it. The only thing I could think of is the spring to pull it up may get weak after some time. Ligaya's CB09 blog is about 2 years old and she has not reported any problems. I am wondering who have used it longer without damaging the hardware.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5846675886332907819.post-51686173414575608872014-06-30T16:02:12.900-05:002014-06-30T16:02:12.900-05:00You are so welcome. I've only used my 45 degree angle blade and use these settings and making sure to check the double cut selection; ratchet blade 3 setting (but I never really change the depth on the CB09 I pretty much leave where I originally set my setting to cut a heavy cardstock and to get this just right I had to make many test cuts n a lot of scratch card stock. When I finally got the results I wanted I just left the settings where they are , thickness 32-33, speed 3. I hope this information is at least a little helpful. I'm so sorry you've had such a time trying to gt this done. I would recommend a thinner mylar. Perhaps a 7 mil.
