Fun Christmas Tree Freebie

This little Christmas tree is fun and fast to make. The sample below I made doing a Print and cut, thus the white perforation you see. When I make some for decorations, I'll use a pretty green card stock. It's easy to fold into a 3D Christmas tree to place some Christmas spirit all over the place. The star slides into a slit at the top of the tree. I painted the star with Mod Podge and glittered it all up with some Martha Stewart gold glitter.

Cell Phone Used with Bad Manners.....I'm fed up!

Okay, I know we live in a technological world. I love computers and spend more time on them than I should but, I know when to get off. When I have company, I stay off my computer and turn the television off. I never ever answer the phone during dinner nor do  I sit with a cell phone checking out Facebook, sending text messages, or reading them.

Lately, and often, my husband and I have witnessed groups of people sitting in a restaurant together and each and every person has a cell phone in hand and their attention seems to be on what they see on that little screen. It's sad to see so many people not enjoying each other and communicating the way a group of people going to dinner should be communicating.

We see people whom think they are paying attention to their driving. If you ask most people whom frequently use mobile phone when driving, they will swear up and down they can totally focus on their driving and don't pose a danger to others. In my observations, this is not true! Often, I wonder if they even notice the accidents they almost caused. I really hate to see a car with children in it, and see a mom or dad, chatting away, or looking downward to read a text.

Seriously, is it this important to have a mobile phone that needs such constant attention. I understand where mobile phones are important and can be very useful. If a person is on call, have their children with a child care provider, or need to have it on because of an important phone call. Do they really need to whip them out at social gatherings like dinner with family or friends?

This is one fed up MOM! I am witnessing our own family members and friends with bad cell phone manners. Oh yes, they are. Whether I go out to dinner with our family and friends or invite them to our home for dinner, I expect to see them, as adults, to mind their manners and NOT come to a table with cell phone in hand, constantly looking downward to read or doing the one hand text a message thing, Yes, they are proficient enough to look downward and text with one hand. Why should they be proficient, they eat, sleep, and drink with it. They now know their phones better than their friends and family.

I've taken a stand for cell phone etiquette, dinner table manners, and in the hopes of making the dinner table a place for socializing between humans whom should be conversing; I've made a sign. This sign is proudly displayed on our buffet table. It's not a small sign. Do you think perhaps the people whom I love and enjoy THEIR company will get the message and realize, phones should never get in the way of real human socializing and conversations.

It seems as this World's technology will make people further apart than bring them together. When people decide that looking at their Facebook, browsing the internet, playing games, reading or sending texts is more important than enjoying the communion of a family/friend dinner; something is wrong.

Oh, I also saw a picture my dear friend had posted at her last year's family Christmas gathering. Every single person in the picture was looking at their mobile phones. All I can say is; "A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words.". Time for me to stop venting and post the picture of my new framed sign. The "Bear Heart" graphics are by Lorie Furnell.

I close this post with a little scenario my husband and I witnessed at a McDonald's playground we had taken our grandchildren to play.

A little boy runs up to his mom in total excitement calling out; "Mom, mom!...you should see what I can do. Mommy do you want to see?" the mother with her head downwards looking at her cell phone just kept on looking at it with her complete and total attention. the little boy call out again; "Mommy, mom, do you want to see?...huh? " The woman lifts her head for a second and say; " Just a minute sweet heart." then the little boy says; "Oh mommy, you have to see, I can do this!"...again, the mom looks down at her phone, then briefly looks up, and in a not so nice tone says; " I said, just a minute. " the boy looks away towards the playground, then back to his mom and stands by her side patiently awaiting. Several minutes later, he asks; " Mom, are you done yet?" she replies, " Did I tell you just a minute!" he looks downward and defeated. He walks away and begins to play on the playground. Over a half hour has passed, and this mom never gave her child the moment he had pleaded to have. They left. As the mom walked out with her son, she held her mobile phone tightly in her hand and looked at it more often than her won child. This gave me such a feeling of anger but even more sadness.

First Mini Blog Hop! with Krafting Kelly and Barb Dersken

Good day everyone! I'm so excited to announce the first blog hop done in collaboration with Kelly many of you know as the very talented Krafting Kelly from Finding Time to Create and the talented, generous Barb Dersken also know as (Lalalime) from her blog The Life of Mrs. Miles.

We've been planning this "Mini Blog Hop" for some time now and finally, have had the opportunity to come together to share with our visitors, followers, and friends some nice Fall cutting files.

This was also a little challenge for us. First, we shared the cutting files we designed with each other and made something fun and crafty to share. All sorts of fun Fall things were made. I have really enjoyed being a part of the mini blog with Barb and Kelly. They are wonderful women who give such inspiration and both are filled with talent. Wait until you see the fun things they made with the shared cutting files. This was so much fun!

The creative, Krafty Kelly created these with the shared cutting files:

Here are the lovely things Barb made with her crafty and wonderful self.

With the Fall themed cutting files shared by Kelly, and Barb; here's what I created:

Napkin Holder
since having grandchildren we started using dishcloths as napkins. This way it's a quick clean up after meal time. Each of the leaves are painted with Pearlescent metallics water colors. They really shimmer.

Pumpkin Candle Wrap

These two pictures are a part of the Accordian frame I made with the files I'm sharing today.

I welded 4 pumpkins together, ungrouped the leaves and acorns from my Cornucopia cutting file to make a pretty Fall base for the pumpkin. I added some orange Stickles glitter to all of the leaves, grabbed my Copics to make some shadows and lines in the pumpkin to finish it up.

Here we go.... these are the cutting files I'm sharing here:

First are these two Print and Cut files. Oh, you can also do a paper piecing with them. You can download both cutting files in .SVG and Studio here -------> Cornucopia and Pilgrim Turkey .SVG and Studio

I've already posted this Accordion frame on one of my other posts but today as part of our mini blog hop I will be sharing the Accordion frame cutting file. I've had so many compliments on this as it sits in my living room as part of  my Fall decorations. This can be used for so many themes.

You can download this one here -----> Accordion Frame Cutting Files .SVG and Studio

If you started the blog hop here; you will want to hop on over to Barb's Blog: The Life of Mrs. Miles or Kelly's Blog: Finding Time to Create to grab ups some more Fall fun goodies.

Many thanks to Kelly and Barb for all of the fun and delightful cutting files shares. This was a blast. xxx- Debbie

Floating Floor

Good Sunday everyone! First, I wanted to say how thrilled I am to learn so many people are enjoying my cutting file shares. I quit keeping track after I saw the 800 mark....lol. I love sharing and knowing they are being used by crafters all over the world.

Now for the reason I'm blogging today; the Pop Up Floating Floor it finished being tweaked but, I am going to wait to post it. Some are thinking it sounds too complicated so, I want to take the time to make a little video tutorial explaining how it goes together and works.

I'm not sure when I'll have the time to make the video because I have company coming for an extended stay. I promise, as soon as I have some quiet time, I'll get it made. For now, I would like to share a "Welcome Baby" card I made with the Floating Floor template.

Have a blessing filled day. xxx - Debbie

Experimenting with more Pop Up features

Hello friends, followers, and fellow Crafters. This post is about an experiment. I shared a pop up card template here and then decided to go one step further by making a cutting file to add to it. It's a floating floor. The way it works, is to add it to the pop up card template, do some print and cut designs to add to the floor. You have to make sure they are sized appropriately because, if you make them too big; when you close the card, it will stick out off the edge of the card. Hmmm.... I wonder how I know this. whistle

Once you choose the graphics, do an auto trace on them, weld a little tab to the auto trace outline the depth of the floor. Make a cutting line rectangular slit about 0.010 to place the graphics where you want the to be.Always  making sure they won't go out past the edge of the floating floor when the card is folded. The back of the floating floor tucks under the pop up portion of the card and will be glued to the lid of the card. The bottom portion will be folded and glued to the bottom of the card. This is when you will see the dimension of floating floor. This card will fold flat so there are no worries about mailing it.

I still have a little tweaking to do on this cutting file so I won't be sharing it today but it won't be long. biggrin

Oh, I also promised, I would share a picture of the Christmas ornaments I cut. Below is a picture of the floating floor prototype and the Christmas ornaments cut.

Have a wonderful day filled with lots of happy crafting! xxx - Debbie

I cut these ornaments today and cut them in a couple of different sizes. They cut our really nice. I hope you enjoy them.

When I get the time, I'll have to take some pictures of the ones I cut out. I'm ready to get the glitter out. My husband is going to love it....LOL

Silhouette 2.7.3 Video - How to Use the New Tools

Hello, I know many of the Silhouette Studio users have already updated to the Studio 2.7.3. If you haven't, you may want to wait. Some of the members on the Silhouette Plus forum have been experiencing issues with the Print and Cut feature. This is why I chose not to update the computer I cut with. I am using the new software on the computer I use to design with.

This video will show you how to use the new tools in the Studio 2.7.3 version and it will show you how to turn off some of the tools you may not always want to have on. I hope this video tutorial is helpful and will make designing a lot more fun. xxx - Debbie

Halloween and Fall Creations

It's been a busy place in my craft room. Since I'm finally feeling better, it's been a time to play catch up on my crafting and designing. I designed a pop-up card template that can be used for all sorts of cards and occasions. While I was on this roll, I also created an Accordian Frame to also use for all sorts of occasions.

Another fun thing I wanted to mention is the mini blog hope Krafting Kelly, Barb Dersken (Lalalime) and I will be having real soon. We have all created something special to share with our followers and visitors for the up coming holidays. So, stay tuned and get ready for some great shares. These card templates and some of the things you see here today may be a part of the mini hop.

If you're not a follower here on my blog, please sign up. Also, if you subscribe by email, you won't miss any of the new cutting files or tutorials I very much enjoy sharing with all of my crafting friends, visitors, and followers.

It's always nice to see new and old followers coming here to visit my tiny little place on the web. Thank you for the donations, comments, friendship, and love so many of you have given to me. Wishing you all many blessings and big hugs. - Debbie

3D .svg File Shares and Note of Thanks

Hello friends and visitors. First, I would like to thank all of those who have made a donation on my blog. This wasn't something I was 100% on board with adding to my blog but, with the encouragement of others I decided to go ahead and add a donation button.

All donations are very much appreciated. So, for those of you who have enjoyed my shares and made such sweet and generous donations, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Please know, I don't expect a donation, I just wanted to make sure to thank those who have made donations. My husband is thrilled to know the donation button is here. I think he can see my craft store shopping adventures will leave his pockets a little fuller...LOL.

Now onto the good news! I've been able to get another whole set of cutting files converted to .svg files so all of you whom use other software/cutting machines can use them. The files I converted today are the 3D files I've created. All the files I've designed except for the trike plane which was in the folder and generously shared by one of our very generous Silhouette Plus forum members named Pete.

I hope you enjoy these files. I will be adding to this folder but, you won't miss out on any cutting files because I usually post any new cutting files here on my blog.

Below is a picture of the Silhouette and .SVG files in this folder. To download this folder, please click here -----> 3D Folder of Silhouette and .SVG cutting Files and Pictures

Wishing all many blessings and happy crafting, xxx - Debbie

Potion Bottle .svg and Studio files

I finally finished tweaking the potion bottle cutting file. I also had to change the cut our portion from the potion bottle because it was a Silhouette Store cutting file I used to make it. I designed a whole new image for the Potion Bottle. If you would like to use your own image; right click on the bottle, releasee the compound path, and move the design off of the bottle to replace with your own or make it solid.

Potion Bottle of Goodies

Posted Image

After seeing the "Potion Bottles" popping up on the Silhouette Plus forum and other places; I gave myself a challenge to make a cutting file of a potion bottle. I have some tweaking to do. Mostly on the lid. I made it a bit too large.

Below is the picture of the prototype of my first cut. I filled it with butterscotch candies but for Halloween treats, it will be filled with one of our grandchildren's favorite candies, Skittles. Okay, it's me, yes, I love those fruity, chewy Skittles but, so did the wee ones....lol.

The center portion is a Silhouette store cutting file I used for the center of the card. I figure, a lot of different centers can be used and some cute labels can be used too. I won't be able to share the skeleton since it's a Silhouette store cutting file so, I'll try to come up with something else to add to the center before I share it. Hopefully, I'll be able to get back to this project tomorrow so I can share it with all of my crafty friends and visitors to my blog.
