Good day everyone! I've been sent some emails and comments asking about the advance features of the color, gradient, and pattern fill tools. I had made videos in the past, but thought I would make a new one and update it a little bit. In this video tutorial I show more about the advanced features, but I also show others how to use the free internet tool Color Scheme Designer 3. This is a wonderful tool which can be used in so many ways. One of the things I left out in my video is how you can export pallets and import them into Photoshop. All you need to do this is to select the color wheel you would like to save, go up to "export", and select ACO Photoshop Palette.Once you've done this all you have to do is import your new palette right into your Photoshop software program.
I hope this video will help you to enjoy the many design options, you can make using the Color Scheme Designer and your Studio software.

A Special Note to Lyn W. From Australia : Hi Lyn, I hope you see this post. Lyn, I tried to send you an email and it came back as undeliverable. I'm not sure why this happened, I used the email address you provided but it came back. This also happened one other time with a nice lady named Stephanie. I would like to send you something as my way of saying thank you. If you can provide me with a different email address I would love to send you some cutting files.
Here are a couple of quick designs I made using Studio and Color Scheme Designer:

Hi Debbie, thanks for yet another amazing video. Can this only be done in Silhouette Designer Edition, which I dont have, as I followed all your instructions, but my Silhouette didnt give me the option to paste where you said. Highlighted the space right clicked, but nothing came up :(
ReplyDeleteHi Julia,I just tried this in the Legacy V2;I don't have the Designer Edition installed and the paste worked just like it did in the video.Did you make sure to hit enter key after you paste the color codes? If this doesn't work I'll see what I can find out or you may want to contact Silhouette support. Hugs, Debbie
DeleteHi Debbie, I highlighted the existing number in the Silhouette box, after copying the number in Colour Scheme Design, then right clicked to get the paste and nothing came up, so I never even got as far as paste. :( Will try again later. Thanks for your help. Will let you know if I succeed. Hugs
DeleteHi Debbie, thanks for coming back to me. I have tried again, but still cant get the paste to come up when I right click having highlighted the silhouette number. I am wondering if this is because I am working on a Mac?
DeleteHi Julia, Kay (Clever Someday) uses a Mac. I'll ask her if she's able to do this. Hopefully we can get this figured out.
DeleteHi Julia, Kay tried this and it works on her Mac. She thinks it might be the difference between the basic and Designer Edition. Do you have the DE software? The other little thing I wanted to remind you of is the other way you can use the color pallet; if you get a screenshot of the color pallet you can open it up in Studio with the DE software and use the eye dropper tool to fill it with the color you select. There is a wonderful deal on the DE software at SVGTools. I paid $50.00 but they have it for $32.88. Here's the link : http://www.svgtools.co/silhouette-studio-designer-edition-p/silhouette-studio-de.htm
DeleteHi Debbie, thanks so much for getting back to me. Am going to go to SVGtools and get the Designer Edition. There seems to be alot one can do with it. My daughter who also has a Silhouette and a Mac is also going to try your video out, she also doesnt have Designer Edition. Thanks again for your amazing videos, I have learnt so much :)
DeleteYou are so welcome. I think you're going to love the DE software and I think it's wellworth the extra $$ even though I try stay on budget; for me it was worth the $50.00.Please let me know what you think about it.
DeleteHi Debbie, been playing around doing this video, and have just discovered why I couldnt paste the number in the Silhouette. Found I could paste if I used the Command C to copy it and then used Command V in the highlighted area it worked, so it is not working by right clicking the mouse. This is the first time that I have not been able to use the right click mouse, but at least I now know how to do it. Many thanks for all your help. Hope this will help others who may have the same problem. Dont very often use my keypad shortcuts, must do so :) :)
DeleteWoohoo!! I'm so glad you figured it out and now you've helped others too. Thank you Julia for posting this information. You rock! Big hugs, Debbie
DeleteHi Debbie, Thanks so much for giving me the SVG Tools link for the Designer Edition. Am a very happy bunny as I have purchased it for $32.88 and I even got a $10 voucher for downloads from SVG cuts. Love a bargain. :) :) Am now off to watch your video on how to use DE. Hugs Julia :)
DeleteHi Julia, I'm so happy for you. This was an even better deal than I thought and you're going to love using the DE software. All of us crafters enjoy a nice bargain, it's always the icing on the cake. :) Hugs, Debbie
DeleteThank you so much! This will make colors so much easier for me :)
ReplyDeleteDebbie,
ReplyDeleteI learn something new everyday! This was definitely so so helpful. I always have trouble matching the colors. Thanks
Thank you for sharing your expertise! I love the ColorSchemeDesigner - that will be so helpful!
ReplyDeleteThank you Debbie.

Another great tutorial, Debbie and another new site for me to go & check out. Thank you for taking the time & trouble to create these instructional videos.
ReplyDeleteTine :)
Debbie, I really enjoyed the video and today I am in a kind of a pickle. I scan and traced a stamp and now I am going to cut it out and before I cut it out, I want to color it. Is this possible? I could get an overall color but it colored the whole image and covered the detail lines. What do you think I am doing wrong? I am very new to this but your videos really helped me with the tracing feature and scanning. So grateful for you and your wonderful instructions.
ReplyDeleteHi Swr4him, If you want to fill each shape of your design with a different color you will need to right click, and choose "Release Compound Path". This will make each element t's own path/shape. You may now individually click on each shape and fill it with color. When you are don, select all or "Control + A" and group them together and choose "Cut Edge", I hope this will help you. Hugs, Debbie
